For our first major assignment, we're watching Zhang Yimou's "Hero" – a cinematic powerhouse of a film by the same person who produced the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. 

In "Hero," Zhang tells a story based the real assassination attempt on the King of Qin in 227 BC. While his is an updated version of the account, Zhang's vision seems timeless in this beautiful film.
