The Chauncey Jones Most Inspirational Award
Named for former standout baseball player Chauncey Jones (Class of 1998), this award is presented each year to the player who best embodies the incredible spirit, passion and drive that Chauncey was known for at MTHS. At the age of 20, Jones died February 28, 2001, losing his four-month battle with leukemia. A permanent plaque honoring Jones and each year’s recipient can be found on the back of the baseball stadium’s press box.
Mr. Hustle Award
The award is decided using a metric known as “hustle stats,” which tracks defensive and offensive efforts such as laying out forflyballs, laying bunts down, stealing bags, running bases , and being a team guy over personal achievements.
MVP Award
Given out to the most outstanding player in the program looking at offensive, defensive and all around play that helped the team be successful.
Offensive MVP
Based off offensive metrics and what this individual did at the plate to help the team be successful.
Defensive MVP
All around defensive gems, saving runs, outs and the player who showed out defensively all year.
