Parents, relatives and supportive friends:

Thanks so much for attending Curriculum Night 2012.

This is one of my favorite events as a teacher here at Mountlake Terrace High School. I really enjoy getting to meet so many of you and talking about what a great place this is to live, learn and teach. Like you, I live in the MTHS service area and my three oldest kids are alumni while my youngest is a junior here. Growing up, my dad (Frank) taught music at Terrace from 1967 to 1974, so I spent a lot of time in the old building and hanging out with the “big high school kids” back in the day. And, although I didn’t attend MTHS in high school, almost all of my childhood friends did and I still see them – and sometimes their kids – here at school.

So, when you enter any of the classrooms in which I teach, know that you and I have a great deal in common and share a deep passion for this community. Please let me know if you have any questions or thoughts about anything regarding your student’s education. There is nothing more fundamentally American than our public schools. It can sometimes sound clichéd, but it’s true that on a daily basis I get to work today with tomorrow’s leaders right here at the home of the Hawks – Mountlake Terrace High School.

Ciao.
